SOMA is a student forum for debates of international issues, modeled based on the United Nations. Every year, there are more than six hundred students from across Noth America thath particiapte in the UN daily proceeding's at SOMA. The aims of SOMA are to increase students' awareness of world issues and international relations amongst the global community. Their debating skills are sharpened with their analytic skills, while the art of diplomazy is promoted through which the delegates learn to negiotiate and compromise amongst others.

Model UNs like SOMA provide an opportunity for students to learn about the functions and role of the United Nations in world affairs. We can see that the work of the UN is evolving daily, and as such it is important for today’s youth to explore these issues and propose their own solutions.
SOMA XXXVII, which will be held April 29 – May 2, 2009, promises to be the best conference to date.
