The Alliance of Jamaican Alumni Association has a bursary that is open to all graduating students of Jamaican descent who intend to go to any post secondary institution. You must have a “B” average in your final 2 years of high school, provide evidence of community involvement, and be nominated by ECI. If you wish to be considered please see Ms. Ison by the end of February 2012. The same association is also offering an Essay Writing Competition for graduating students of Jamaican descent. Both applications are due June 1, 2012. |

Rotary Club of Toronto Argonauts Community Scholarship
February 6th, 2012| The Rotary Club of Toronto Argonauts Community Scholarship is for students who demonstrate the traits of perseverance and determination in their daily lives and who shows a commitment to academics and improving their community. |
| Students may be attending any post-secondary institution, must have demonstrated an improvement in grades from their first year to their last year (or have maintained their marks), and must demonstrate financial need. Applications are due April 30, 2012 and you can get the application in the scholarship drawer in Student Services. |
Garfield Weston Award
January 31st, 2012The Garfield Weston Award if for students going to Community College. They are looking for students who are passionate about their field of study, curious, courageous and willing to try new things. You must also be community minded and interested on making a difference in society. This award is $8,000 plus free tuition and a $3,500 summer job. The application is due March 28, 2012. Check the scholarship drawer in Student Services for details.
University of Toronto Vari Scholarship
January 31st, 2012The University of Toronto Vari scholarship is for students who are entering Victoria College at U of T in the faculty of Arts and Science. You must have a 90% average and demonstrate, through extra curricular activities, an interest in teaching. You must also demonstrate financial need. The application is due February 3, 2012 so you must act right away. If you need more information check the scholarship drawer in Student Services.
Scholarships
January 26th, 2012- The Wiesenthal Scholarship is for students who are going on to any post secondary institution who exemplify tolerance, justice and human rights and who are going on to a field where you can influence tolerance, justice and human rights. Students must have an average of at least 75% and evidence of community involvement or leadership. The due date is March 23, 2012.
- The Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers scholarship is for students going to college or university in a program of at least 2 years and must be in grade 11 or 12. You must also be sponsored by a GFIG member store but they can help you locate a sponsor. These applications are due May 31, 2012.
- Laurentian University entrance scholarships are available now. Applications are due May 1, 2012.
- Nipissing University scholarship information is available now.

Scholarships
January 18th, 20121. The Rotary Club Youth Leadership award is for students who demonstrate leadership, positive change within their community, innovation, and dedicated to service above self. The application is due March 1, 2012.
2. McMaster University Hatch Entrance scholarships are valued at $48,000 ($12,000 over 4 years) and are based on an average of at least 94%, demonstrated leadership and involvement in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities in the community. Applications are due March 28, 2012.
3. McMaster Engineering scholarships are for outstanding high school students who are entering McMaster’s Faculty of Engineering and who also participated in Shad Valley. There are 5 awards of $1,000 each. Applications are due March 28, 2012.

Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship Program
December 19th, 2011The investing in Our Diversity Scholarship Program is for students entering any post secondary program and has financial need and is a resident of any Toronto Community Housing community. The other criteria they will look at are involvement in the community, academics and workplace experience and a personal statement. These applications are due March 22, 2012 and can be picked up from the scholarship drawer in Student Services.
George Brown Alumni Entrance Scholarship
December 19th, 2011The George Brown Alumni Entrance Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that is awarded to 10 high performing students with a record of outstanding academics and personal achievements. The minimum average is 78%. You must have a passion for your field of study, record of leadership, community involvement, volunteerism or extracurricular participation. You must also demonstrate innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. More details can be found on the application which can be picked up from the scholarship drawer in Student Services. The deadline is January 15, 2012.
Miller Thomson Foundation Scholarship
December 14th, 2011The Miller Thomson Foundation National Scholarship is for students planning on going to any post secondary institution in Canada. Students must have an average of at least 87% in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. They will also look at students’ contribution to their school and community through involvement in extra curricular activities. Applications must be done on-line and can be found on millerthomson.com. They are due by March 1, 2012.
